PEGASUS AIRLINES [PC] FLIGHT COMPENSATION FOR CANCELLATION/DELAY

Did Pegasus Airlines cancel your flight or was your flight delayed? Here is how you can get your money back.

Cancellation Compensation

What are my rights when Pegasus Airlines cancels my flight?

When Pegasus Airlines flies from Europe and the U.K., they comply with EU/UK regulations. When your flight is cancelled due to various reasons, Pegasus Airlines will try to rebook you on another flight or refund you for the money you paid for your ticket. When Pegasus Airlines rebooks a flight for you and that flight plan doesn’t suit you, you can always ask for a refund for your cancelled tickets. Under the EU Regulation known as EC 261/2004, if an airline has not warned you at least 14 days prior to your flight, you will be eligible for up to $700 (600€) in compensation. In that case, EC261 applies if your flight is leaving from a European airport. For detailed information about EC 261/2004, you can read more about it here.

Cancellation Compensation

When you are flying from the EU or U.K. and your ticket is cancelled by Pegasus Airlines you are eligible for compensation up to 600€, a ticket refund, or both.

If Pegasus Airlines cancels your flight and does not inform you 14 days prior to your departure, you have the right to ask for compensation and/or a refund. There are some unusual circumstances in that Pegasus Airlines can refuse your compensation. Please refer to this article's "Extraordinary Circumstances" section for further details on these circumstances.

How can I know if I am eligible for compensation if Pegasus Airlines cancels my flight?

The best way to know that you are owed compensation by Pegasus Airlines is simply to click on the “Check Your Flight” button on the Click2refund website and follow the necessary steps. After filling in the required information, you will know whether you are eligible for compensation or not within 2 minutes, without any obligations. If you are eligible for compensation, our legal team will handle the rest for you and will inform you along the way about the progress.

Delay Compensation

Even though airlines try to be on time, unfortunate events can occur. You don't need to be concerned in these circumstances because Click2Refund is there for you. Under the EU Regulation EC 261/2004, if a flight is delayed 3 hours or more, you should be eligible for up to $700 (600€) per person in compensation. Only flights departing from EU airports are covered by EC 261/2004.

How can I get compensation for a delayed flight on Pegasus Airlines?

EC 261/2004 states that if a flight is delayed more than 3 hours the passenger is entitled to flight compensation. When you are flying from the EU and your Pegasus Airlines flight is delayed more than 3 hours, you are protected by EU regulations and have the right to get compensation. Pegasus Airlines can only refuse to compensate under the “Extraordinary Circumstances” clause. For detailed information, check the “Extraordinary Circumstances” section of this article.

How much compensation can I get for a delayed or cancelled Pegasus Airlines flight?

Pegasus Airline Flight Compensation:

  • All flights under 1,500 km – Up to 250 EUR per person,
  • Internal EU flights over 1,500 km – Up to 400 EUR per person,
  • Non-internal EU flights between 1,500 km and 3,500 km – Up to 400 EUR per person,
  • Non-internal EU flights over 3,500 km – Up to 600 EUR per person.

These are the compensation amounts under EC261. Your nationality or your age doesn’t make a difference – you are protected by EU laws and EC261. It doesn’t matter how much you paid for your ticket; compensation amounts are fixed. Only flights that depart from the EU and UK are able to be compensated.

In addition to compensation, when your flight is delayed or cancelled you have certain rights as accommodation and provision. If your flight is delayed more than 2 hours, Pegasus Airlines should provide you with hot/cold drinks, if it is delayed more than 3 hours, they should provide you with breakfast or a meal and if your flight is delayed more than 5 hours, Pegasus Airlines should provide you with additional snacks and drinks.

Pegasus Airlines Passenger Rights

Pegasus Airlines has a dedicated page about passenger rights that you can see here. These passenger rights regulations are applicable on journeys organized by Pegasus Airlines in Turkey, the EU and other relevant aviation jurisdictions.

If you are denied boarding, your flight is cancelled or delayed and takes place past the scheduled time, (this includes delays caused by the plane’s landing to another location than the intended one and obliges you to miss your connecting flight), you will be eligible for compensation. But there are certain details that you should be careful about. First of all, you must have the relevant Pegasus Airlines ticket for your flight, and you should be at pre-flight security at least 60 minutes before your scheduled flight. If you are not allowed to board because of unsuitable health, safety, and security reasons, you will not be eligible for compensation. Pegasus Airlines has the right to refuse compensation due to exceptional circumstances (you can find further information about these situations in the “Extraordinary Circumstances” section of this article).

Extraordinary Circumstances

If the cause of the delay or cancellation is a third party or force majeure, Pegasus Airlines has the right to refuse compensation. These types of situations are called “Extraordinary Circumstances”. The most common extraordinary circumstances are:

Adverse Weather Conditions, like thunderstorms, heavy rain, or thick fog.

A strike of airport workers can delay or cancel flights. But if the airline’s crew go on strike that situation is not considered as an extraordinary circumstance.

Terrorist attacks or security risks due to unrest.

Natural disasters such as hurricanes or volcanic eruptions.

The collision between aircraft and foreign objects.

The delays caused by the airport staff, such as strikes and long security checks.

Under these circumstances, Pegasus Airlines can refuse compensation.
