Luxair Flight Delay Compensation

If your Luxair flight is delayed by more than three hours, you may be eligible for Luxair flight delay compensation under European Regulation 261/2004. The amount of compensation depends on the distance of your flight as follows:

  • Up to 1,500 km, 250 EUR
  • Between 1,500 and 3,500 km, 400 EUR
  • More than 3,500 km, 600 EUR

According to the Regulation mentioned, you can also claim additional expenses such as accommodation, refreshments, and communication tools resulting from the disrupted flight, as long as they are reasonable. If you've had a case in the last two years, please note that our success rate with Luxair is over 98%.

However, if the delay was the result of extraordinary circumstances, Luxair Airway is not liable for paying you. These include, but not are all, the following circumstances:

  • Weather conditions that endanger the safe operation of the flight
  • Political instability or security risks
  • Strikes or industrial actions by airport staff or air traffic controllers
  • Air traffic management decisions or restrictions
  • Unexpected flight safety issues or technical problems
  • Manufacturing defect of the aircraft
  • Acts of sabotage or terrorism

Also, the Luxair flight delay compensation amount may be reduced by 50% if the arrival time of the substitute flight does not exceed the original arrival time by four hours (for flights of more than 3,500 km).

Refunds for Delayed Luxair Flight

In addition to Luxair flight delay compensation, you may also have the right to get a refund of your ticket if your Luxair flight delays by more than five hours, provided that you decide not to fly.

The refund should cover the full cost of the ticket for the part or parts of the journey not made and for the part or parts already made if the flight no longer serves any purpose in relation to your original travel plan. You may also have the right to get a return flight to your first point of departure at the earliest opportunity.

It is important to note that the right to a refund is different from the right to compensation. You can choose either one, but not both. If you accept a refund and decide not to fly, you waive your right to compensation.

Luxair Flight Cancellation Compensation

If your Luxair flight is canceled without 14-days prior notice, you have the right to choose between the following:

  • Rebooking on another flight to your final destination at the earliest opportunity or at a later date of your convenience, subject to availability.
  • Receive a full refund of your ticket.

In addition, you may also be eligible for Luxair cancellation compensation if the cancellation was not due to extraordinary circumstances. The amount of Luxair cancellation compensation is the same as for Luxair flight delay compensation, as explained above.

  • Up to 1,500 km, 250 EUR
  • Between 1,500 and 3,500 km, 400 EUR
  • More than 3,500 km, 600 EUR

Luxair Overbooking Compensation

Sometimes, Luxair may sell more tickets than the available seats on a flight in order to avoid empty seats due to no-shows. This practice is legal and common in the industry, but it may result in some passengers being denied boarding involuntarily.

In such cases, Luxair must first ask for volunteers who are willing to give up their seats in exchange for benefits agreed with the airline. If there are not enough volunteers, Luxair may deny boarding to some passengers based on criteria such as priority needs or check-in time.

If you are denied boarding against your will, you have the right to choose between the following:

  • Rebooking on another flight to your final destination at the earliest opportunity or at a later date of your convenience, subject to availability.
  • Receive a full refund of your ticket.

In addition, you may also be eligible for Luxair overbooking compensation of up to 600 EUR, depending on the distance of your flight and the delay of your alternative flight.

To claim your Luxair overbooking compensation, you can use Click 2 Refund’s service by starting with our online calculator to check your compensation amount.
